Advances in Cloud-Scale Machine Learning for Cyber-Defense (RSA Conference 2017)

Picking an attacker’s signals out of billions of log events in near real time from petabyte scale storage is a daunting task, but Microsoft has been using security data science at cloud scale to successfully disrupt attackers. This session will present the latest frameworks, techniques and the unconventional machine-learning algorithms that Microsoft uses to protect its infrastructure and customers.

Mark Russinovich

Mark Russinovich is Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft Azure, Microsoft’s global enterprise-grade cloud platform. A widely recognized expert in distributed systems and operating systems, Russinovich earned a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He later Co-Founded Winternals Software, joining Microsoft in 2006 when the company was acquired. Today he remains the Primary Author of the Sysinternals tools and website, which include dozens of popular Windows administration and diagnostic utilities. He is a popular speaker at conferences such as IPExpo, Microsoft Ignite and RSA Conference. His nonfiction and fiction books include the Microsoft Press Windows Internalsbook series, as well as fictional cybersecurity thrillers Zero Day, Trojan Horse and Rogue Code.
