Happy festive season to all our readers.
“BYOD adoption is much easier now, If "CISO / IT" Gets Its Way. It helps IT decision makers supporting BYOD to anticipate the day to minimise the device expenses of any organisation for its employees and secure & simplify management. Now your enterprise applications can be SECURELY accessed on any device of your choice.“
A truly transformative technology that makes bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environments far more secure, much more manageable and significantly faster-acting has come to market. Technology works for any enterprise or organization, without the use of Terminal Services, RDP or HTML5 between the server and the device.
Considering today’s mobile device usage trend, it will become extremely easy for our CISO friends in India to roll out this technology without worrying about security. Any device, any time access to enterprise applications is now possible to provide to employees.
I've never been thrilled with 'containerization' solutions for BYOD. With any earlier solution with partitioning the device (personal and enterprise) Data still resides on the device, which means people will be able to hack it. Once they do, containerization is pretty much done. In addition, it may give you the ability to remote wipe a portion of the device, with us, there is never the worry of data on a device and no need to ever have a remote wipe.
If someone thinks they lost their device, you can bet that they will first look for hours, if not days, to find it. Who would call the IT Staff immediately and say that they lost their phone, please wipe it. I doubt anyone. Therefore, the device could be compromised by the time someone reports it stolen.
Many other issues that I have, but these are the top concerns. :-)
1) Putting data on the device also allows a disgruntled employee to share that data if he/she wants to. However there is a claim of DLP and Global policy. But look deep, how much is in practice?
2) You run the risk when you have a problem with your phone. You take it in to the SERVICE CENTRE or somewhere else, the phone needs to be backed up. Now, store could have your private data if they know what they are doing. Huge security alert!
3) I wouldn't be surprised that if someone could hack the containerization, that they could also then 'worm' their way in to your corporate server.
4) Data on your device leaves it open for someone to hack the wifi in to your phone and take control of it.
None of this will happen if using new solution.
Wishing everyone a bright, safe and healthy days ahead. May this festival season bring everyone a prosperity and safety all over.
