The Corona Learning and Training

With most countries and companies in lockdown, training and learning institutes/apps started to offer courses with minimal or no cost. I was wondering what could be the motive behind these free courses and training. I could extract two things out of this.

1. Coursera

2. Udemy

3. LinkedIN Learning

4. edX

5. Lynda

6. Pluralsight

The first one being exposure of these platform. A fresher out of college would very rarely know these names and would not have fund to pursue a course in it. Now that when given free, a friend circle will try to do it, thereby spreading the word about the course and the platform.

Now this is the second on my list. The sales strategy.  With users posting their free certifications on LinkedIN, his/her connections would be urged to complete a free course. These platforms are using the best use of the situation and I totally appreciate their motive behind giving away free certification although they profit out on the other end.

ps: I did my Autopsy 8 hour free training (very limited to what-is-what) which otherwise would have costed a month expenditure
