Leaders Shaping the Insider Risk Agenda

CISO Platform is highlighting the security leaders and practitioners bringing national-security, behavioural-risk and critical-infrastructure perspectives to the 11th National Insider Risk Symposium.

Why CISO Platform is supporting this conversation
Insider risk is a priority that cuts across identity, cyber defense, human behaviour, investigations, resilience and executive governance. As Community & Media Partner, CISO Platform is bringing this cross-sector conversation to our North American community so security leaders can see how peers across government and industry are approaching the problem.

The value of this symposium is not simply the number of speakers. It is the range of operating environments represented—from national counterintelligence and federal infrastructure security to healthcare, maritime operations, aerospace and public infrastructure.

1. National-security and government operating models

Four confirmed speakers bring direct experience from institutions responsible for national counterintelligence, infrastructure protection, trusted innovation and investigations:

  • Hon. George W. Street — Director, National Counterintelligence & Security Center
  • Scott Breor — Acting Executive Assistant Director for Infrastructure Security, CISA
  • Robert Schadey — Portfolio Acquisition Executive, Trusted Innovation, DCSA
  • Pearl Mundt, SES — Executive Director, Air Force Office of Special Investigations

For CISO Platform members, these perspectives create a useful bridge between government operating models and enterprise questions around identity, investigations, intelligence sharing and resilient security programs.

2. Human behaviour, identity and prevention

Technology can identify signals, but insider-risk decisions still require human context. Two speakers bring complementary behavioural and enterprise human-risk perspectives:

  • Dr. Deanna D. Caputo — Chief Scientist for Insider Threat Research & Solutions; Senior Principal Behavioral Psychologist, MITRE
  • Ashley Atiles — Senior Director, Human Risk, Labcorp

Their inclusion reflects a shift that matters to CISOs: moving beyond reactive monitoring toward programs that combine behavioural insight, identity intelligence, policy and proportionate intervention.

3. Critical infrastructure and enterprise execution

The speaker lineup also connects insider risk to environments where operational continuity, public safety and sector-specific constraints are central:

  • Milancy Harris — Vice President and Chief Security Officer, AeroVironment
  • Gregory Ehrie — Chief Security Officer, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey
  • James Smith — Vice President of Security & Emergency Management, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
  • Shawn Whiteside — Executive Director, Maritime Transportation System ISAC
  • Rick Karakadze — Associate Vice President, Global Maritime Security, Carnival Corporation
  • Tom Dobbins — Executive Director, Water ISAC

What CISO Platform members can take away

  • How security leaders are moving from detection toward prevention
  • Where identity intelligence and human policy need to work together
  • How different sectors adapt insider-risk programs to operational realities
  • Why collaboration across security, HR, legal, IT and business leadership is essential
  • How AI is changing both the threat landscape and the workforce
