Delhi is the capital of India and is almost the northern center. It is easily commutable to various popular spots in India, specially the Himalayan Range, Pink City Jaipur, Thar desert and Historical sites like Taj Mahal,Red fort, Kutumb minar etc. Here's a concise list so you can plan ahead:

1. Taj Mahal:

Often mentioned in 'Wonders of the world' & a UNESCO World Heritage Site is One of the greatest Mughal Architectures in history, built by emperor Shah Jahan. It has been the object of study for years! Did you know it took ~22 years and ~20,000 artisans & craftsmen to complete?

2. Himalayan Range:

  • Auli, Uttarakhand: World's highest man-made lake called Artificial Lake, Trekking & Skiing,Training facility of Indo Tibetan Border police ~500kms from Delhi
  • Kanatal, Dehradun, Uttarakhand: The highest point presents mesmerizing view of Himalayas ~300kms from Delhi
  • Kufri, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: Himalayan wildlife including Himalayan Monal, the State Bird ~380kms from Delhi
  • Kausani, Uttarakhand: Dense pine forests & sports great view of himalayas ~390kms from Delhi

3. Thar Desert or Great Indian Desert:

World's 17th largest desert & 9th largest subtropical desert.It extend through Aravalli Hills,Great Runn of Kutch & Indus River. It's diverse fauna includes Chincara or indian gazelle, Bengal Fox,blackbuck etc.

4. Historical sites(local sites) in Delhi:

  • Red Fort
  • Qutub Minar
  • Humayun's Tomb
  • Tughlaqabad

First 3 are UNESCO World Heritage sites.
