Russia Ramps Up Attacks on Critical Infrastructures

The recent attack against the Polish power grid has been attributed to ELECTRUM, a Russian state-sponsored cyber group. That hack sought to disable communications and control units in Industrial Control Systems of heat and power systems.

Aggressive Nation State actors, such as Russia, are sharpening their cyber-attack skills and targeting global adversaries. The Polish power supply grid is one of the latest industries that is feeling the pressure and learning how to resist. The recent attack by the Russian government sponsored ELECTRUM group is shedding light on their evolving tactics and tools.

Coordinating IT and OT attacks against critical infrastructures is a scary proposition. We all need to be focused and prepared to defend and secure our power grids, transportation networks, shipping logistics, communications, healthcare, and government services against the growing attacks. The pressure will increase in 2026 and will be felt in all the critical infrastructure sectors.
